I had been delaying reviewing this album because I did not have enough time and did not have the right mood to do it which explains why the album is only reviewed after 1 month when it had been released.

I have always loved sad songs and my favourite song for Cyndi With You album is 我會好好的 meaning “I’ll be fine. This is a follow up song from Cyndi’s previous 2nd album Cyndi Loves You track number 3 -明天见 meaning “See you tomorrow”. Notice that these 2 songs have similar tunes akin to Wu Bai’s rock tunes. I like the MTV of 我會好好的, especially the beginning where she had to cry and the scene is filmed in the rain. By the end of the MTV, Cyndi also has to run in the rain. 我會好好的 and 明天见 MTVs both use the effect of rain to create a sombre mood.

The most touching scene I like in Ming Tian Jian is when Cyndi wakes up to find the guy gone. Also like the scene when Cyndi runs together with the guy holding the firecracker thing - in the end the guy outruns Cyndi and Cyndi becomes alone by herself.

Wu Bai who composed Wo Hui Hao Hao De for Cyndi mentioned that the feeling he had of Cyndi is that he seemed to know her for a long time, and he has a certain relationship with her(unsure if it is love or friendship). Why he has this feeling, he could not explain. So he starts to write the song from this perspective. The original title for this song is meant to be 愛情的 友情的 meaning love or friendship. The crux of the song means that when the guy leaves the girl, the girl will say that she’s fine, the sky has not fallen down and everything is as per normal. Hence, the title of this song has been changed to 我會好好的 meaning “I’ll be fine”. Wu Bai feels that Cyndi needs to have a feeling that she can be able to grasp to express her feelings in the song, and hence to give Cyndi some simple words to be able to express to the audience what she feels in her heart.

While the best track from my opinion is 我會好好的, I find that most if not all of the other tracks of Cyndi With You album are nice too. Track number 1 睫毛彎彎 is a mixture of Eastern music with western style. It portrays the first meeting of two strangers who instantly develop a liking for each other and at the same time feeling excited and shy. Track number 4 is a unique song in the album because it incorporates African tribal musical style(Woosa) into the essence of the song itself. Track number 5 is written by Singaporean songwriter Lin Jun Jie for Cyndi titled 手錶 meaning “Watch”. It is the second song written for Cyndi by Lin Jun Jie, the first of which is 当你 from the first album. It uses the metaphor of watch, to portray the constant desire to be at the side of your loved one, to protect him/her. Track number 6 想和你 is my second most favourite song in the album because of it has a catchy tune and light hearted “happy” music which will help one to lift out of any moody feelings that he is experiencing at the moment upon listening to the song. It is a song to cure your Monday Blues. Track number 7 - You are my only love, another song that is sad. Cyndi’s improvement shown in this track: the use of real and fake vocals in the portrayal of this song. The song says that when two lovers separated, they can only stand on opposite ends of central line, each looking out for themselves. This follows up with track 8 太陽萬歲 a song of uplifting spirits in the genre of Sweet Classical Dance to lighten up one’s moods. Track number 9 丟銅板 epitomizes the good and bad that you will experience when you are in love with another person, just like flipping a coin, you can get either a good or bad side – in love you will get both bitter and sweetness. The final track 10 梦的光点 is the first track to finish being composed for the album. It had been the opening theme for a cartoon showing in China titled “神兵小英雄. The following phrase summarises the essence of this track:

“我追着梦的光点是因为有了勇气才不怕危险，你的爱没有上限给我力量继续往前，我追着梦的光点心连心站在同一边的起跑线，加速度冲出线，仰起了脸，我们微笑一起迎接幸福终点”

It signifies that Cyndi will continue to strike forward with courage, her fans will support her like beacons of light in dreams. A good ending meant for the album which promises the perseverance of the human spirit that no matter how much pitfalls we have gone through, we will not hide and cower in fear.

I noticed that the album tracks are arranged in the pattern of being happy followed by sad:

Track 1,2 - Happy
Track 3 - Sad
Track 4 - Happy
Track 5 - Sad
Track 6 - Happy
Track 7 - Sad
Track 8 - Happy
Track 9 - Sad
Track 10 - Happy

I'm not really sure about Tracks 2, 5, maybe they are both happy and sad at the same time, or perhaps neutral. But nevertheless the pattern is present.




The cover of the album again seeks to promote the cute image of Cyndi. This time, Cyndi wore a specially made Rudolf deer horns/antlers which serve for this purpose. The filming of the lyrics booklet and MTV shots etc were done in Japan at temperatures as low as 9 degrees Celsius. Indeed, the horns was an excellent idea for the album as shown by the large amount of attention that it attracted in Japan from the public looking and pointing at the strange sight of a girl wearing that horn in the busy streets of Japan.

Nevertheless, the album has been largely successful. I would give a 4.5/5 rating for the album as the tracks are nicely done according to my opinion. An album which is a must for Cyndi fans. An option to consider for those who like catchy tunes and some other tracks to perk up your day.
