Mouse Problem

Computer has some problems which I'm unable to solve. One of these is the mouse problem. This problem started when the original HP wireless optical mouse was spoilt(due to falling to the floor a few times.) The problem is that my system cannot be compatible with any other mouse that I tried to install - it's like it only likes the HP mouse. Either the computer keeps restarting when I installed the new mouse drivers, or the computer cannot detect the mouse when I plug it into the P/S 2 port or USB ports. Currently I'm using the A4tech mini optical mouse which so far has the least problem of all - the only problem being needing to plug out and in the mouse into the USB port when I power on the computer again. This problem is not good in the long run because it can cause the USB port to be spoilt due to constant plugging in and out of the port which may loosen the port. The A4 tech mini mouse looks like this:

Have emailed to HP email technical support for advice. These are their replies:

Thank you for contacting HP Total Care.

In reviewing your message, I see that the mini optical mouse does not work with the HP Pavilion 753d PC.

By way of information, I would like to inform you that this issue occurs due to corrupt USB drivers. Hence the best possible way to resolve the issue is to reinstall the USB drivers as follows:

1.Save and close all programs that are currently running.
2.Click Start, select Shut Down, and choose Restart the computer.
3.Press the F8 function key when the Blue HP logo appears. This will display the Windows Startup menu.
4.Select option 3 to load Windows in Safe mode.
5.After Windows loads in Safe mode, right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties.
6.Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
7.In the Device Manager Window, double-click the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
8.Right-click the device listed under Universal Serial Bus controller and select Uninstall.
9.Click OK to confirm the removal of the device.

NOTE: Repeat steps 8 and 9 until all the devices under Universal Serial Bus Controller are removed.

The USB port is now uninstalled.

Now, restart the system. The system automatically detects and reinstalls the USB port.

This should resolve the issue. If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact us. We will be glad to assist you.
