Doom: Hell Breaks Loose

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The poster looks nice, I hope the film turns out great because other video games that have been made into movies have bad reviews like Resident Evil and Alone In The Dark. I heard that there is some deviation from the Doom game itself, with the monsters not coming from hell itself but humans being turned into monsters by means of a serum. I read the spoiler, it turns out that the character played by The Rock which is Sarge turns evil by the end of the movie which is not surprising because The Rock also turns into an evil being in the Mummy Returns as The Scorpion King. And there can only be one good guy in the Doom movie because in the game itself, there is only one hero. The lone hero turns out to be the guy Reaper who is taken to represent the main guy you play in the Doom game, he is played by Karl Urban who is best known as the role Eomer he plays in the movie the Lord Of the Rings. In the finale of the Doom movie, he faces off with Sarge who has turned demonic....

Presentation For Matrix Movie Analysis

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I've not been able to blog for a long time, because school has really been quite busy and I don't have the mood to blog.

Today is the big day because it is the presentation for our project for the Matrix movie analysis which is fun because we actually get to analysis movies for our project. We actually were scheduled to present on Tuesday's lecture but due to the technical problems in the lecture which led to no time for our group to present in the lecture, which is more or less a blessing in disguise because we do not need to present in lectures. None of us had presented in lectures before and had to faced such a big crowd of people.

Today, there were like 4 groups presenting in the seminar room. The first group was presenting on Matrix too. There were only 2 people presenting: 1 guy and 1 girl who was not feeling well. Their analysis is well done, because they were able to put up good points for their analysis and in the end they put up a spoof cartoon for us to watch. The next group is presenting I Do I Do, a Singaporean made film which stars Adrian Pang, Sharon Au and Allan Wu. It is very well done also because they were able to elaborate on their points quite well, and made the presentation interesting by showing us lots of pictures in the slides.

Then, we are the third group to present. Hafiz started the intro with a video, then proceed with the sypnosis, Propp's Folktale structure and Propp's Archetypal characters. Everyone of us were nervous. Hafiz's nervousness manifested as in clicking the slides too fast and have to backtrack again. Next I do presentation on the Barthes' Five Narrative codes which are the Action code, Semantic code, enigma code, referential code and the symbolic code. I'm not good presenter because my voice is not very loud and clear and also I look insignificant. Oh and I missed out my last slide which is the slide for the pictures on the symbolic code, thanks Steph to cover for me. After my part is Steph's part on Metaphors which is well done. Then Joan's turn which is on sterotypes and gender roles but time has run out. We have no choice but to hurry and skip some points. She was nervous too and keep right clicking the mouse........Finally is Xiaohui's turn on intertexuality and conclusion. Xiaohui's voice is very good and clear. I think we exceeded quite some time, maybe we should have cut off the video at the starting to save time.

After our group presented, it's then the last group presenting on Infernal Affairs. This group all wear like the people's dressing in that movie, as in all black and ties, and they are male dominated group. They did quite well because they can capture the audiences' attention very well, and also shows video clips in their presentations to emphasize their main points. After that the presentations ended, and Dr Millie talked about some stuff on the final exam, and she said it's like a normal exam because she can't come up with a creative exam and there will be 2 questions. We will wait for her email for more info on the final exam format again. We were dismissed at about 3 25pm. Then I went to a barber shop in Bukit Batok to cut my hair and to look like a teenager look because it is cut very short.

It's a great day because presentations are finally over. The next and final thing is to prepare for the exams.

Importance of Sleep

Please note that the below post is just for fun and not to be taken seriously. No offence is meant to anyone.

Credits to Dexter who provided this fun and entertaining facts about sleeping.

A man can go two weeks without eating. But if he doesn't rest at all, he can only survive for one week. Sleeping provides us the time to rest our internal organs, eyes and brains. Poor sleep quality can cause internal damage to our internal organs and brains. Therefore, sleeping is very important to us. If you wish to have a long life and stay healthy, please take note of the advice below.

5 DON'TS when you are sleeping

DON'T SLEEP WITH WATCH
Watches can emit a certain level of radioactivity. Though small, but if you wear your watch to bed for a long time, it might have adverse effects on your health.

DON'T SLEEP WITH BRA
Scientists in America have discovered those that wear bras for more than 12 hours have a higher risk of getting breast cancer. So go to bed without it.

DON'T SLEEP WITH PHONE
Putting the phone beside your bed or anywhere near you is not encouraged. Though some of us will use phones as alarm clocks, but please put the phone as far as possible. Scientists have proved that electrical items including mobile phone and television sets emit magnetic waves when used. These waves can cause disruptions to our nervous system. Therefore if you need to put your mobile phone near you, switch it off first.

DON'T SLEEP WITH MAKE UP
People who sleep with make up might have skin problems in the long run. Sleeping with make up will cause the skin to have difficulty in breathing and problem in perspiring. You will also need a much longer time to go into deep sleep.

DON'T SLEEP WITH OTHERS' WIFE
You may never wake up again.
